Minimalist Monday
Monday, April 24, 2017

Today, I return back to my life of being a teacher: early mornings, lesson plans, reading assessments and tending to the needs of children.  Spring Break last week was very refreshing and rejuvenating.  I am truly grateful for the rest the break restored within me.

I spent the first few days of break catching up on sleep, soaking in time with my Chu Bear, and decluttering.  Some days were more productive than others, but I am A-okay with that!  My approach for decluttering was taken through some guidelines of the KonMari method of decluttering and "sparking joy." **Proud moment: I narrowed down my capsule to 35 items in my closet!**  Embracing minimalism is definitely a journey, but I am learning day by day what truly brings joy and what promotes a lifestyle of simplicity.

Every day I am reminded to take a step back from life and dig deeper into what I really want to establish for my life, my marriage and my future.  I am so intrigued on the idea of "less is more" and fostering a lifestyle that is not based off of the materialistic matters of this world (However, I do believe in investing in items for the long run).  Day by day I am reminded of how Satan uses objects, thoughts, and unimportant substances to distract us from our end goal, purpose and vision for life.

Anywho, I am still on this minimizing and simplifying trek of life.  I am not where I would like to be yet and I am still learning how to devise an end goal of how I want my life to look like.  However, what I do want to install in my life of simplifying are relationships (being intentional with others), hosting others and cultivating hospitality, pursuing righteousness, and being an advocate of healthy and godly marriages.

My idealistic end goal of being a minimalist, is being able to pick up our things and go wherever the Lord calls us right then and there.  How beautiful it is, to be able to just GO and follow Christ.

Anyhow, my current thoughts and aspirations seems to be mingled within and all over the place in this post.  But I hope that when I return back to this original post, years down the road, I am reminded of my ambitions, wishes and expectations for my future through minimalism and simplifying.

And he said to them,
"Take care, be on your guard against all covetousness,
for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."
— Luke 12:15
